Mike McCoy of the U.K ask: Is it normal practice to train up someone to be a dj,provide them with the gear and pay them abot 30% of the fee?

Yes, Mike it is quit typical in the industry to pay a subcontractor that amount. Of course you do have to consider your long term goals. If he/her is great at their job, do you want him or her to work your contracts on a regular basis? If so, you may want to setup a long term goal.

For example, let's say if he or she works so many jobs per month and receives great comments. You may want to make it an incentive t

o pay more say 40% to retain their services and build a successfull DJ company.
