A Family Vacation Getaway at the Idle Awhile Resort on Negril Beach in Jamaica would also suit couples and singles. It has six one bedroom suites and eight Deluxe Rooms, beachfront on the famous seven mile white sand beach. This inn on the beach can give you a lovely Caribbean hideaway vacation, far removed from the glitz and bustle of the all inclusive resorts so abundant in the Caribbean.
One of the reasons that the Idle Awhile Resort makes for a great family vacation getaway is the free access to Swept Away Negril’s famous Sports Complex which includes 10 tennis courts, 2 squash courts, 2 racquetball courts, a fully equipped gym, lap pool, aerobics. There is Yoga, a jogging track, steam rooms, saunas, and a Jacuzzi. The oasis Spa at the sports complex gives you Spa and Beauty Services but at an extra cost. All this should keep even the most active youngsters busy.
The Idle Awhile Resort itself has lovely gardens, and the paths from the suites to the beach are lined with fragrant tropical flowers, and lush green vegetation.
The accommodation units have been very carefully designed for privacy and comfort, each is air conditioned and has cable TV. They have a real tropical feel to them, with wooden shutters over screened windows, so you can hear the t
ropical sounds at night. You will find the rooms are clean and very well looked after.
The Chill Awhile restaurant is right on the beach , and it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all Jamaica style food, very tasty, and not too expensive. Described by more than one guest as “Yummy”, and the service is top notch, with the food always arriving hot.
One of the challenges of a beach resort in Negril or any beach vacation in Jamaica or the Caribbean for that matter are the beach vendors. The white sand beach at Negril especially at the Idle Awhile Resort is relatively untroubled, because the beach security guy who also helps with beach chairs makes sure you aren’t hassled. It’s a bit unfortunate that you can’t really walk down the beach away from the resort without being hassled, but mostly a polite refusal doesn’t offend, and you are then left alone. Just be pleasant, they are after all trying to make a living.
This is a great place for a family vacation getaway because of the proximity of Swept Away. If you are used to all inclusive holidays, you will enjoy being able to eat out in the many bars and restaurants without feeling you are paying extra. You will also like your closeness to the real Jamaica as you will mingle far more with local people. There is also no need to get up early to reserve sunbeds. The whole atmosphere is very laid back and you will have a great beach vacation at Idle Awhile Resort, which is a great price, with great staff in a great position on Negril Beach.
